Measurement of cytokine secretion from antigen specific T-cells, which occur in very low numbers in peripheral blood, is normally a technically challenging methodological procedure.

Bender MedSystems ELISpot analysis allows the detection of cytokine-production by single-cells, and provides a highly specific and sensitive means of analyzing T-cell responses to individual antigens. The detection of a single antigen specific T-cell out of 1000 (< 0.1%) irrelevant cells is possible.
